Welcome to the Radboudumc Electron Microscopy Center

Where we support academic and industrial users in applying standard and advanced electron microscopy in the life sciences.

The Radboudumc Electron Microscopy (EM) Center was founded in 2019 by Dr Anat Akiva and prof Nico Sommerdijk to support users in the application of electron microscopy, both using standard techniques as well as the most advanced imaging and analysis strategies.

Radboudumc EMC offers:

Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) (room temperature, cryo & Liquid phase)

Focused Ion Beam-Scanning Electron Microscopy (FIB-SEM) (room temperature & cryo)

Scanning Electron Microscopy - 3D Electron Array Tomography

Correlative imaging modalities (room temperature & cryogenic)

Confocal Raman Imaging (room temperature & cryogenic)

We will get your research to the next level

Our service starts by having a personalized discussion with you to help you choose the best methods for your research questions. Our team will support you throughout the whole process, from preparing your samples to capturing images. Our goal is to make sure we collect and prepare high-quality data that can be used for competitive publications. If you are interested in using our facilities regularly, we also offer training sessions so you can learn to use them independently.

To advance our imaging capabilities, we actively collaborate with industrial partners to push the boundaries of science and incorporate cutting-edge technologies into our work.
